Orange Shirt Day
Today is Orange Shirt day. I challenge us non-Indigenous settlers to take time today to witness, contemplate, and commit to actions that support the healing journeys of survivors of the Residential School experience and their families. Let us reflect on the effects of colonization on Indigenous children, through history to present. As childcare workers, we prioritize the well being of children, but efforts to support Indigenous children in Canada still fall systematically short.
Wear an orange shirt today to show your solidarity and commitment to the ongoing process of reconciliation. Read the story behind the Orange Shirt here: https://www.orangeshirtday.org/
In solidarity,
Jess, CUPE 2484 Diversity Rep
